Open houses in Greenwich are scheduled on different days depending on their location. Thursday is everything east of North Street so much of what we saw today was in Old Greenwich and Riverside. Two houses stood out to me today and while they are both priced in the low 2 millions, each would probably appeal to a different set of buyers.
The first house is federal in design, was built in 1810 and renovated in 2010 with much of the original charm intact. High ceilings, large public rooms, front and back staircase and mature plantings attract the would-be buyer as they enter the home. The upstairs could use some updating or an additional bathroom as 4 family bedrooms share 1 bath. There is a laundry nearby that could be converted to another bath and that would probably better meet the needs of today’s family.
The second house was built in 1998 and renovated in 2011. This center hall colonial uses every inch of its 3700 square feet efficiently and with charm. The 3 floor with an office and bedroom has very high ceilings so it feels like it belongs to the rest of the house and the private, spacious professionally landscaped backyard extends the living area of the internal space.
Greenwich real estate has much to offer right now in many price ranges and sellers pricing their homes with a realistic eye. That is a pleasure after seeing many overpriced homes with hopeful buyers thinking we were still in 2008.
